Reflexology Massage

Reflexology massage therapy is a thousand-year-old treatment method from East Asia (specifically China, Vietnam and India). This technique is based on the so-called reflex points distributed throughout our body. It is based on the fact that each of these areas is linked to other, more or less distant parts of the body. By using special touches and pressures exerted on individual reflex points on the body, we can act not only locally but also affect distant but related areas.

Principles of reflexology

The basis of reflexology is the division of the human body into 10 vertical and 4 transverse reflex zones and the determination of reflex points, after which the pain is reduced and even the natural and correct functions of the affected organs are restored. These reflex zones and points represent nerve endings.

Reflex points can be used all over the body, but most often these are those located on the soles of the feet, ie on our feet. Effects on reflective surfaces placed on the hands, neck, ears, back and pelvic area are also quite common.

The main goal of reflexology is to restore the energy in the body. At the same time, the effect on reflex points positively affects the psyche.

Initially, reflexology was used as a precautionary measure to alert us to a problem that has not yet been manifested. At present, however, it is mainly used as a supportive method in the treatment of already proven and annoying problems, where it helps to find and subsequently remove their true cause and thus to heal faster.

Positive effects of reflexology massage

Reflexology massage is suitable for a wide range of indications and for almost all groups of people. Positive changes that can be made with its help can be divided into two types. On the one hand, it is the local effects of blood circulation and temperature increase at the site of action. The second type is the distant changes caused by the nerve-linked areas. This group includes mainly changes in blood circulation, affecting muscle tension and eliminating pain.

The massage thus promotes the natural removal of harmful substances from the body and vice versa the supply of positive, defensive back to the body.

In particular, its effectiveness has been demonstrated by:

functional, degenerative and chronic rheumatic diseases of the spine and joints - back pain (the main cause is kidney problems) and joints (the main causes are kidney problems, accumulation of waste products in the body, overweight, poor eating habits)
disorders of blood circulation and functional diseases of internal organs,
infertility
migraines and headaches (the main causes are cervical spine blockage, gallbladder or liver dysfunction),
sleep problems
trauma states
allergies (the main causes are kidney, lung and spleen problems)
digestive problems, etc.

Contraindication

It must not be performed after organ transplantation.
How does reflexology differ from other massages?

Reflexology differs from other classical massages in that it mainly affects the nervous plane. Individual organs and tissues of the human body are interwoven with interconnected nerve fibers, and different reflexive processes occur with the participation of higher nerve centers. Thus, changes in the internal organs can cause changes in the body surface, in the muscles or other internal organs and vice versa. These changes are mainly mediated by the so-called vegetative nervous system.

The aim of reflex massage is to eliminate all negative reflex changes in tissues. Through mechanical action on the body surface, we interfere with the so-called reflex arc, which evokes the negative effects.

The advantage of reflexology is the fact that it is a targeted action focused on individual organs or their parts with immediate effect. Reflexology has a wide range of functions: it has beneficial effects on blood vessels, skin and joints, so it can be said to be beneficial to the whole body. It also has a positive effect on the mental side, as it strengthens the nerves and creates a pleasant feeling of cleanliness and health. It can also be used to detoxify the body and support the lymphatic system.

Barefoot remains the best and most natural reflex therapy. In addition to preventive action, it helps to solve both acute and chronic problems. It can also be beneficial as a complement to another treatment or to speed up recovery.

Course of therapy

In the case of reflexology, communication between the therapist and the client is recommended. Always, and in the case of reflex therapy, it is advisable to listen to your own body. Therefore, in the presence of any pain or discomfort there is feedback. This can quickly reveal the cause of the difficulty and then start working to remove it immediately.

To begin with, the body should be prepared by properly performing reflex foot relaxation and unblocking the cervical spine. Thus, the therapist detects, among other things, the client’s sensitivity.

The reflex massage itself is dry without the use of massage oils. Usually, the client is working with the client in a lying position on his stomach or in a sitting position and with the help of special tactile pressure he acts primarily on the reflex points of the feet, palms, back, ears or tongue.

The response to reflexology is, according to our experience, of two types. One part of the clients feel energized after the therapy and the other one is exhausted and tired. In this case, however, it should be noted that even a negative reaction can mean the success of a massage. Both reactions are evidence that the organism has awakened from inactivity and stagnation to activity and has begun its regeneration.

Other reactions to reflexotherapy can be: runny nose, insomnia, toothache, digestive problems, clouded urine, skin rash, increased sweating, temporary worsening of spine pain after previous improvement, gynecological discharge in women. However, you do not have to worry, because these manifestations are not serious and will usually disappear soon.

Finally, we would like to remind you that we cannot expect improvement of health and recovery immediately and only on the basis of one reflex massage. It can be useful as a complement to another treatment or to speed up recovery. Depending on the type and condition of your problems, it is worth repeating the reflex massage several times. Of course, the longer you are troubled, the longer your treatment will be.

Everything must be put in order gradually. Therefore, allow the body enough time to regenerate and see that it will repay you.
